About me

About me

I was born in Rome. I had my first painting lessons at the age of 12 with the American painter Edith Schloss Burckhardt, who was my godmother and accompanied me artistically until her death in 2011. Between 1970 and 1978 I attended primary and secondary school in Rome, and then until 1983 the art high school-Liceo artistico “Caravaggio” in Rome. At the same time, between 1975 and 1985, I studied violin at the Conservatory of S. Cecilia in Rome until I obtained my diploma. After graduating from the Liceo artistico Caravaggio, I have always painted until today, even when I was working as a violinist, I always had time for a watercolour or drawing, etc.

In 1989 I came to Basel as a violinist with a 50% position in the Basel Symphony Orchestra, so I also had time for painting and later for ceramics. Since 2018 I have had a large studio in the Kesselhaus in Weil am Rhein, where I can devote myself to designing and painting large-format pictures. The style of my paintings and ceramics is inspired by a wide repertoire of motifs from popular culture and folk religions and I like to mix experiences from my personal life with childhood fantasies and famous figures.
